Sewing Schools in Mityana and Kidodo, Uganda

Our sewing schools offer 6-month long training programs for free to people who want to learn to be tailors. Many young people in Kasese drop out of school by age 12, because they can no longer afford school fees. They are then at greater risk for things like sex trafficking and child marriage. The Paper Fig Foundation Sew School gives them not only the skills they need to start their own businesses and become financially independent, but also gives them a community that supports them in achieving their goals.

“We’ve had several victories here [at the Sew School],” said Edith Muhindo, Regional Coordinator of Paper Fig Foundation. “We’ve had two graduations, and most of these girls were very happy and victorious because they had excelled.”
