Experiences & Trips

The Friends of PFF Trip

April 15, 2020

Since the Paper Fig Foundation was founded 8 years ago, we have relied on the support of our New York-based community to grow our impact in East Africa. We’ve brought ten African designers and creatives behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week to introduce them to our network of incredible professionals. We’ve shared stories of our own journeys to Rwanda, Ghana, Uganda, and elsewhere. We’ve demonstrated the power of the Invisible Thread through music, video, performance, storytelling and photography.

But nothing compares to the experience of traveling to Africa. We invite you join us on a once in a lifetime adventure to travel with the Founder, Laurie DeJong, and members of the board to experience the projects of the Paper Fig Foundation firsthand.

You’ll get to meet designers we work with, take a small plane over the African savannah, go on safari, and support the Paper Fig Alumni Association as they put on a spectacular fashion show. All this, while supporting our work. Please join us April 15-22. It’s going to be the adventure of a lifetime and we want to share it with you!

"I went to Africa on a trip with people I really didn’t know, which is something that was very outside my comfort zone. On our first full day there, we did a yoga class with a group of women who had been personally impacted by the genocide. We shared this special moment - it was such an honor to be able to experience something like this. I went from being nervous about the journey, to have this most amazing experience."
